This February, which is “Adopt-a-Rescued-Rabbit Month,” Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue and Education Center, Inc. (ESRREC) wants you to find some bunny to love.

To help potential adopters learn more about pet rabbits, ESRREC will hold a “Bunny Care Basics” seminar at the Queen Anne’s County Library in Centreville on Saturday February 23 at 2 p.m.

The seminar provides an overview of fundamental needs such as food, litter box training, and recommended toys and treats. One of the key features is a demonstration of how to safely pick up a rabbit. ESRREC will also bring some of their adoptable bunnies.

ESRREC is a Rock Hall-based charity dedicated to finding homes for abandoned pet rabbits. Since its shelter on Main Street in Rock Hall started operations in April 2015, ESRREC (which has 501(c)(3) nonprofit status) has taken in over 175 abandoned pet rabbits, out of which nearly 120 have been adopted. ESRREC has also arranged for 145 spay/neuter operations before adoption.

Approximately 50 percent of the rabbits have been transferred from other animal shelters/organizations, while the remainder were strays, surrendered directly by the owners, or born from a pregnant rabbit in ESRREC care.

More information about ESRREC can be found at www.esrrec.org.
